SARGAN: Spatial Attention-based Residuals for Facial Expression Manipulation

نویسندگان

چکیده

Encoder-decoder based architecture has been widely used in the generator of generative adversarial networks for facial manipulation. However, we observe that current fails to recover input image color, rich details such as skin color or texture and introduces artifacts well. In this paper, present a novel method named SARGAN addresses above-mentioned limitations from three perspectives. First, employed spatial attention-based residual block instead vanilla blocks properly capture expression-related features be changed while keeping other unchanged. Second, exploited symmetric encoder-decoder network attend at multiple scales. Third, proposed train complete with connection which relieves pressure generate face thereby producing desired expression by directly feeding towards end generator. Both qualitative quantitative experimental results show our model performs significantly better than state-of-the-art methods. addition, existing models require much larger datasets training but their performance degrades on out-of-distribution images. contrast, can trained smaller expressions datasets, generalizes well images including human photographs, portraits, avatars statues.

Facial Expression Recognition Based on Structural Changes in Facial Skin

Facial expressions are the most powerful and direct means of presenting human emotions and feelings and offer a window into a persons’ state of mind. In recent years, the study of facial expression and recognition has gained prominence; as industry and services are keen on expanding on the potential advantages of facial recognition technology. As machine vision and artificial intelligence advan...

Facial expression and selective attention

Recent findings demonstrate that faces with an emotional expression tend to attract attention more than neutral faces, especially when having some threat-related value (anger or fear). These findings suggest that discrimination of emotional cues in faces can at least partly be extracted at preattentive or unconscious stages of processing, and then serve to enhance awareness and behavioural resp...

Residuals for spatial point processes based on Voronoi tessellations

A residual analysis method for spatial point processes is proposed, where differences between the modeled conditional intensity and the observed number of points are assessed over the Voronoi cells generated by the observations. The resulting residuals appear to be substantially less skewed and hence more stable, particularly for point processes with conditional intensities close to zero, compa...

Attention Based Facial Symmetry Detection

Symmetry is a fundamental structure that is found to some extent in all images. It is thought to be an important factor in the human visual system for obtaining understanding and extracting semantics from visual material. This paper describes a method of detecting axes of reflective symmetry in faces that does not require prior assumptions about the image being analysed. The approach is derived...

Facial Expression Recognition Based on Anatomical Structure of Human Face

Automatic analysis of human facial expressions is one of the challenging problems in machine vision systems. It has many applications in human-computer interactions such as, social signal processing, social robots, deceit detection, interactive video and behavior monitoring. In this paper, we develop a new method for automatic facial expression recognition based on facial muscle anatomy and hum...
